5th Annual Owen Wicks Memorial Scholarship (now accepting applicants)

Details: This scholarship is in remembrance of 16 year old, Owen Wicks, who fought and lost his battle with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in 2012. The Owen Wicks Memorial Scholarship recognizes students pursuing continuing education (college or trade school) in (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering or Math, who also displays a compassion for helping others within their community. This award is to help ensure that Owen’s sense of humor, perseverance in the face of overwhelming obstacles, and passion for helping others are his legacy that will be remembered for years to come.

Requirements:  Graduating 2020 Brentsville High School student planning to attend College or Trade School to further their education in the STEM.  Must be actively involved in community service.

Submissions:  Please send an essay detailing your community service involvement, why you plan to study Science/Medicine, and how you plan to use both your service and studies in the future.  Essays should be no longer than 2 pages and submitted to WestRashCharities@gmail.com no later than April 5, 2020 (DEADLINE Extended due to COVID- 19  – to April 30, 2020).

Award:  $1,000 scholarship award
